Why We exist.

Mental Health Disparities

  • 22.5% of Black people report weekly mental health issues

  • Psychosis rates are 10x higher than White men

  • Suicide is the leading cause of death for men under 50

  • Black people are 4x more likely to be detained under the Mental Health Act.

Representation Matters Too many Black men and boys face isolation, stereotypes, and systemic barriers. AQCC exists to rewrite these narratives through culturally rooted coaching, mentoring, and storytelling.

Representation & Equity

Coaching Leaves Black Men Behind the UK coaching industry is thriving—with over 3.1 million adults engaged in coaching activities in 2024.

Yet Black men and boys remain:

  • Underrepresented as coaches

  • Under-engaged as clients

  • Overlooked in programmes lacking cultural fluency and emotional safety

Fewer than 30 grassroots CICs across the UK focus specifically on coaching and mentoring for Black men and boys — most operating with minimal funding and visibility.

Why Representation Matters Research from Leeds Beckett University reveals a persistent “colour-blind” stance in UK coaching. Globally, the coaching industry includes 145,500 active coaches and generates over $4.65 billion USD in revenue — but cultural fluency and representation remain glaring gaps.
